Pop Up Performance Schedule

Curated by the Kansas City Host Committee, the intention of the pop up performances is to infuse dance throughout Conference. Performances highlight local artists and the diversity of the Kansas City dance community. Selected performers were chosen from an open application process reviewed by Host Committee representatives and local dance professionals.

Seamless Dance Theatre, Inc. | Artistic Director & Choreographer: Erin Lustig

Seamless was founded in 2005 and was created to provide dance to many different audiences and individuals in our community. Seamless is a jazz and modern company that believes in the power to touch lives through dance, performing emotional, thought provoking pieces. We also provide dance classes for children w disabilities, award dance scholarships, perform for underserved schoolchildren and educate young dancers on using food to fuel your body.

Gurukul Dance | Dancers: Samarpita Bajpai & Julie Steinbech

Gurukul Dance is a Company that specializes in the East Indian classical style called Kuchipudi. Hallmarks of the style are ancient temple traditions like 'Figure Painting' dances and a particular plate dance called 'Tarangam'. Gurukul has toured nationally presenting many ground breaking and collaborative works.

City in Motion Dance Theater's professional company was founded in 1985 when five founding choreographers dreamt of bringing together modern dancers from all over Kansas City, to provide a laboratory for professional modern dance in the Midwest region. Today it continues under Artistic Co-Directors, Andrea Skowronek and Stephanie Whittler. "Fractured Embrace" choreographer, Stephanie Whittler earned her BFA in dance from UMKC's Conservatory of Music and Dance, joined the CIMDT professional company as a dancer in 2003 and became an artistic co-director in 2011.

Victory in Motion Contemporary Dance Company | Founder: Christopher Peacock

Victory in Motion Contemporary Dance Company, a Christian based organization, officially launched on January 4, 2015. It is a creative outlet for expression with emphasis on building cooperative relationships, and operates in the spirit of excellence to create original programs that have a positive influence on our culture and community. Victory in Motion Contemporary Dance Company provides opportunities through on-going classes for youth and adults in the dance genres of ballet, modern, jazz, and hip-hop.
